Pictures of cookies

Cookies in hospo

Last week in hospo my class made chic chip cookies. For this lesson my partners were Liv and my japanese exchange student, Kako. Firstly we got all our ingredients but unfortunately couldn't get white and dark chocolate chips so we just got white chocolate chips. Then we went back to our bench and started cooking, we all added the ingredients to the bowl and Liv started mixing. She then gave kako a go at mixing when it started to get harder and harder to mix. We then decided to would be easier to use our hands to mix so I started mixing it with my hands and then gave kako a go too. After the mixture was well mixed, we all rolled the batter into balls and flattened them a bit on a baking tray. We left them in the oven and when they were ready, we took them out. Overall I was very pleased with this lesson and the cookies were very delicious.

Photo of quesadillas

quesadillas

Today in hospo zara, Clare C and i made quesadillas. Firstly i went to get the ingredients while Clare turned on our sandwich toaster so it would be warm when we were ready to use it. Zara then cut up the avocado while Clare and I shredded the chicken using a fork. We all put our quesadillas together how we wanted them and I toasted mine first, then Clare and Zara toasted theirs. We then cleaned up all of our utensils and put them back in the drawers and cupboards. All went well in this lesson and we didn't have any problems. I really liked cooking these because there easy and taste delicious!

Rice paper rolls

Yesterday in hospo I made rice paper rolls with Liv. I loved making these, although we didn't get as many rice paper sheets as the other groups. Firstly we got the ingredients and Set up our work bench then we washed the vegetables and started to chop them up. After we had done that we shredded the chicken and started to roll up our paper rolls. Our first roll was not very good and only had chicken and lettuce in it but our rolls improved after that and were much better. We had to refill the water to soak the rice paper sheets in a couple of times but other than that the lesson ran smoothly. I really enjoyed making these and can't wait for our next lesson when we make quesadillas!

Pita chips

In our last hospo lesson we made pita chips with salsa. My partner for this lesson was phoebe and she made the pita chips while I made the salsa. Firstly we got all our ingredients and set up our cooking area so that we could start cooking. Then phoebe got the pita bread and spread a bit of oil over it and chopped it up. I then started to chop up the ingredient for the salsa with the help of phoebe. After we had put the pita chips in the oven for a little while we remembered that we forgot to put paprika on them so we got them out and I put a small amount on my chips because phoebe didn't want any on her chips. We then finished off the salsa by adding lime juice to all the ingredients in the bowl. Although I added a bit to much lime juice to the salsa, the pita chips were a bit overlooked and we forgot to add the paprika, I think it was a good learning experience for me.

Theory lesson

A couple of lessons ago in hospo we had a theory lesson. I found this lesson surprisingly interestin, as we found out about different things to do with health in the foods we eat. In this lesson we learnt about different nutritional information and about the food pyramid and all the different foods we should be eating a balance of. All off this nutritional information was to help us with our upcoming assignment where we have to make a nutritious sandwich and present it either on a plate or in some kind of take away package. I can't wait to practice my sandwich and I already have an idea of what I will be doing.
