Hospo 25/7/13

Today in hospo we baked scones. Firstly, Liv and I got all of our ingredients from the bench up the front and went back to our area. Then, while I got the baking paper for the tray, Liv started gently mixing the butter and the flour. We then made a well and poured a cup of milk in. Then I mixed the batter and kneaded it until it was alright to roll out. Then Liv rolled it out as I started the washing up and we were the first in our area to finish washing up. Because Liv had cut, glazed and put the scones in the oven, we helped the rest of the groups in our area with doing their washing. When the scones were ready I put on the oven mits and pulled them out but accidentally burned myself when I pulled them out. Overall I really enjoyed this lesson and will certainly make this recipe again.

Hospo 24/7/13

I was away for our 2nd hospo lesson of the term which was on the 19/7/13 but I was at school yesterday when we made orange and poppy seed muffins in hospitality. Firstly, My partner Liv and I got to our station and the bowls that were in our area were dirty so we had to clean them up before we could start cooking. We then got all of the dry ingredients, put them in a bowl and added the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients then I put the mixture in the pan while Liv started the cleaning up. Because we were one of the last groups to finish, Mrs Baker let us use the dishwasher and Mrs Goodchild helped us. I really enjoyed the orange and poppy seed muffins we made because Liv and I decided to put a bit of extra orange rind in the mixture, as we both like the taste of orange. Overall I was happy with the end result and it was a good first cooking lesson.
